What is the Equine Gait Analysis Society (EGAS)?
What is the Equine Gait Analysis Society (EGAS)?
The Equine Gait Analysis Society (EGAS) is the international authority in the field of quantitative gait analysis in horses. We equip veterinarians, physiotherapists, researchers and other equine professionals through evidence-based education with the skills to integrate objective gait analysis in their daily routine. On the highest level.
What does EGAS offer?
What does EGAS offer?
We want to bring equine orthopaedics to a higher level by offering evidence-based education for equine veterinarians and other professionals.
EGAS offers the EGAS Live Course; a postgraduate course for equine veterinarians. This one-year course takes place at several elite clinics and universities in Europe. Completion of the course, as well as passing the examination is mandatory to become an EGAS-certified veterinarian.
Furthermore, the EGAS offers online courses, for those who want to cut all content around gait analysis in smaller pieces, study from home and on their own speed. Our e-learning environment is giving you access to not only your courses, but also all relevant scientific papers, knowledge tests, case studies and the EGAS community.
Personal training and team training for clinics and practices to improve their clinical application of objective gait analysis in horses are provided to you as well. Either next to your (online) courses or completely separately. It doesn’t matter how many cases you have collected with which gait analysis device, we are there for you to improve your knowledge and make you more confident in the clinical application of equine quantitative gait analysis.
Our global network is here to help you with any gait-analysis related question. Reach out to us and we will connect you to the right person.
Which gait analysis devices does the EGAS work with?
We work with and have knowledge of all validated veterinary devices. Those are:
- Equinosis
- Equi-Pro
- EquiMoves
- EquiGait
- Qualisys - QHorse

Which gait analysis systems do you cover?
EGAS is independent and technology-neutral.
We teach the principles of objective gait analysis to help you work with all validated veterinary systems. These systems originate from different technologies:
- Sensor-based systems (IMUs / inertial sensors)
- Optical motion-capture systems
- Force/pressure measuring platforms
- AI/CV based applications
